To understand the motivation of the organizers, Ms. Aïssanatou Kanté explains: “I saw young men from the communes of Conakry organizing male tournaments everywhere. So, I posted a status asking for a tournament to be organized for us girls as well. Many liked and shared it. That’s how it all started. The girls began to identify themselves through their neighborhoods and communes. We immediately created a group to organize the tournament. For this first edition, we have 8 women’s teams,” she explained.
In the same vein, speaking about this women’s sports event during the blessed month of Ramadan and the Christian Lent, which also coincides with Women’s Month in March, she emphasized: “We are in the month of women, and it was a woman who initiated this, and it has now gained momentum all over Conakry. We can only thank God, the Almighty, for His grace.”
Concluding her narrative, when speaking about the objective, Aïssanatou Kanté states loudly and clearly: “It is also a way for us to promote peace in our country, Guinea, and to strengthen the bonds of friendship and fraternity among the young people in our different neighborhoods and communes of Conakry. Also, you find that we, the youth, often communicate on social media, but we don’t see each other. This is an opportunity for us to meet and talk face-to-face. It is also a way to support the transitional government in peace and social tranquility for the benefit of all Guinean men and women.”
This women’s night football tournament, currently being played at the Bluezone of Kaloum under the high patronage of Africa’s best mining manager, Dr. David Makongo, has seen a strong turnout from former footballers, artists, football actors, and also officials from BFG Consulting, New Japan Mining Company, and the Makongo Foundation, all under the watchful eye of the great promoter of peace in Guinea, Dr. David Makongo.
It should be noted that this women’s football tournament, dedicated to peace in the Republic of Guinea, will be played from March 23 to March 30, 2024, at the Bluezone of Kaloum under the high patronage of Dr. David Makongo. Unless there is a last-minute change, the CEO of the MAFAC Foundation, Dr. David Makongo, will attend the grand finale this weekend.
